Here's a bit about the pattern:

Whether you're a seasoned knitter looking for a relaxing project or a beginner eager to dive into the world of knitting, this cowl is your perfect companion. Its rhythmic pattern will have you in a knitting trance, and the colorful stripes will brighten your every stitch.

The Very Stripey Cowl is effortless to wear since the shaping built into this design allows the cowl to rest gently on your shoulders.

After beginning with a garter tab cast-on, you’ll knit narrow stripes separated by simple ridges to keep you on track. The cowl works up quickly with interludes of soothing stockinette. Then, you’ll join to work in the round as the stripes grow, adding interest to any outfit. A deliciously textured seed stitch border is the finishing touch.

The stitch pattern is simple to follow, and the only stitches used are knits, purls, yarn overs, kfb, m1L, and m1R.

What is the cost for the Knit Along?

Dawn & Jessica love opportunities to connect with their makers! There is no cost for the KAL events. You are welcome to join us ... just purchase a Very Stripey Cowl Kit from Twice Sheared Sheep OR the Very Stripey Cowl Pattern from Double the Stitches.

Kits from Twice Sheared Sheep include a digital download of the pattern PDF.

Kits do not include knitting needles or stitch markers.

What skill level is required for the cowl?

The Very Stripey Cowl pattern is designed for knitters who have mastered their knits & purls and are ready to learn to knit a beautiful cozy accessory.

The stitch pattern is simple to follow, and the only stitches used are knits, purls, yarn overs, kfb, m1L, and m1R. It begins by knitting flat, and is later joined to work in the round using circular knitting needles.

The pattern is fully written and the repeat is charted, so you can take your pick to work from!

And a Stitch Count Table is included to help keep you on track.

What yarn do I need to knit the cowl?

Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors; approximately 446 yards/408 meters. The sample cowl uses Twice Sheared Sheep Everyday Merino (100% Superwash Merino, 185 yards/169 m per 3.53 oz/100 g).

 • Color 1: 1 ball in colorway Ochre

 • Color 2: 1 ball in colorway Terra Cotta

You may substitute worsted weight yarn from your stash.

Do the Very Stripey Cowl Kits from Twice Sheared Sheep include the pattern?

YES! The Twice Sheared Sheep kits include a download of a digital PDF of the Very Stripey Cowl pattern.

The kits DO NOT include a printed pattern.

What needles & notions do I need?

Needles & notions are NOT included in the kits. You will need the following items:

• US 9/5.5 mm 24”/60 cm circular needles (or size needed to obtain gauge) 

• Darning Needle 

• Stitch Markers, 4 total: 3 locking stitch markers, and 1 unique for beginning of round 

• Row Counter ... Twice Sheared Sheep has the BEST ones! (or scrap paper)

Can I use stash yarn & buy the pattern?

Yes, you are welcome to use yarn you have in your stash and join us for the KAL events.
