Imagine in just 90 minutes ....
you're knitting Fair Isle colorwork without stress.

Is your Ravelry queue or Pinterest filled with beautiful colorwork projects you're too intimidated to start?

Have you started a stranded project, only to rip it back because the tension pulled too tight or the floats caught on everything?

If so, this workshop is for you!

The technique you'll learn in this workshop can easily be added to any stranded colorwork project!

Learn the skill now, and confidently knit all the beautiful stranded colorwork gifts your heart desires!

You're invited to an all-new live workshop:

Ladderback Jacquard:
Colorwork Without the Long Floats!

Instead of long floats that pucker or knitting that's too tight, you'll learn a technique where the stitches on the back of your fabric form a stretchy mesh, keeping your project beautiful.

I'll walk you through it step by step, live, so you can ask questions in real time and virtually knit alongside supportive yarnie friends.

By the end, you'll have the skill and the confidence to take on any fair isle project that catches your eye!

WHEN YOU JOIN ME FOR THE WORKSHOP

we'll spend 90 minutes together on Zoom making sure you've learned everything you need to conquer this technique!

2 Live Zoom Sessions to learn the Ladderback Jacquard technique … come to one or both! The same material is covered in both workshops.

A knitting pattern for an Ear Warmer that you can keep knitting on your own time and at your own pace to practice the technique.

30 days in my Stitch Society Membership to ask questions, rewatch the replay, and knit with yarnie friends.

By the end of the workshop …

  • You'll have knit your first rounds of colorwork, live, with support the whole time.

  • You'll be able to look at the back of your knitting and feel proud, not worried.

  • You'll feel confident instead of intimidated … and proud of your stitches instead of wanting to hide them.

Take the struggles out of colorwork for good!

You already know the challenges: floats that snag on everything or show through your knitting, tension that's too tight so your work puckers … and not even blocking can save it!

Ladderback Jacquard solves all of that!
Instead of long floats stretching across your work, you'll be making short, stretchy stitches that make the yarn you're carrying invisible on the front and keep your tension even.

What we'll create in the workshop …

We'll knit your first Ladderback Jacquard project together, a cozy ear warmer worked in the round.

You'll cast on, work a bit of 2×2 ribbing, and then we'll dive into the colorwork together during the live Zoom session.

This project is knit in the round, and you'll be working with a small circumference.

You can use a 16″ circular needle. Magic loop, 2 circulars, and DPNs are great options, too. Use whatever tool feels most comfortable.

There are 3 ways to create the Ladderback Jacquard mesh that invisibly manages the yarn between color changes.

I'll show you all of them, so you can choose your favorite for future projects.

The Workshop Includes Your

I can't wait to welcome you inside! 💛

I'm a knitwear designer and instructor, and my passion is helping knitters who are ready to advance their skills. I love demystifying techniques to help you grow a toolbox of knowledge, and build on that knowledge with each project.

I can't wait to help you learn to love Fair Isle colorwork as much as I do now that I've learned Ladderback Jacquard!

It's so empowering, especially when you knit without fear of floats or fighting your tension.

I can't wait to show you how. 💪🏼

This 90-minute live workshop is your chance to discover the Ladderback Jacquard technique, a colorwork method that looks impressively “fancy,” but feels surprisingly doable once you see how the stitches work.

Here's what you'll love about this workshop:

  • A live, step-by-step session that takes the mystery out of the technique
  • Learn 3 different ways to create the Ladderback stitches, so you leave with options you can use for any future project, not just one method
  • A pattern for an ear warmer to keep knitting on your own time and at your own pace
  • A supportive, guided learning experience, with your questions answered live

This isn't a “watch and figure it out on your own” workshop. It's a live, guided experience … so bring your yarn, and let's conquer this together!

A replay will be available for 1 week for all attendees.

For longer access, activate your Stitch Society trial, where you can rewatch it anytime during your 30 days.

You will not need a lot of fancy computer skills!

• The workshop is hosted on Zoom, so all you need is a device that can join a Zoom call. I recommend joining from a computer if you can, or a tablet if a computer isn't available, since it makes it easier to see the demo.

• The workshop pattern and any other printable resources will be available as downloadable PDF files. They will be sent by email.

Our practice pattern is knit using worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors (preferably one that is “light” and one that is “dark” but they can be shades of the same color).

Dark Color: 35 grams
Light Color: 25 grams

You'll also need circular knitting needles in size US 6/4.0 mm and US 7 / 4.5 mm.

The workshop pattern will be shared by email as a PDF before the workshop begins.

Yes, this workshop assumes you're comfortable knitting in the round on a circular needle, magic loop, or DPNs.
This workshop is for confident beginners ready to try something new.

It's perfect for knitters who love the look of colorwork but want a less fiddly way to do it.

And .. anyone who'd rather knit alongside friendly support than figure it out alone.

This workshop is not right for you if …

• You are not a knitter … and have no desire to learn.

• You are a beginner knitter who is still learning the basics.

Right after checkout, you'll see instructions to activate your 30-day trial. Just follow the steps there to get ongoing access to the replay (for the lifetime of your active membership), the on-demand library filled with 11+ deep-dive workshops, live Zoom stitch sessions, and the private community.

If you activate your Stitch Society trial, your membership renews automatically after 30 days at $34 per month. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 5 business days before your renewal date.

You are welcome to knit with any yarn you have on hand, as long as the weight / thickness of the same. The patterns are designed using worsted weight yarn so it is easier to see your stitches.

Worsted weight yarn is defined as a “4 / medium weight” by the Craft Yarn Council.

You do not need specific brand needles, but you will need to knit these projects in the round. If you haven't knit in the round before, please reach out to me after enrolling and I will share helpful resources with you to get you started.

I cannot adjust the pattern for different yarn weights or needle sizes, or for knitting flat instead of in the round.

The pattern will be available to purchase after the workshop on Ravelry at https://www.ravelry.com/designers/jessica-ays

Due to the digital delivery and instant access provided, there are no refunds for workshops.
